Up not down
In his best selling book Blink, Malcom Gladwell emphasises the importance of gut instinct. The feeling that in any given situation you may sense something isn’t quite right or should be done a certain or other way – even if you cannot put your finger on it or lack the courage to say so at the time.
A barrier to acting on ones concerns is often insecurity. You may be unsure if others will share your opinion or feelings. Worse, you may fear ridicule or actual physical harm from those with interests that clash with your good nature. Prolonged exposure to the status quo (the fishbowl effect) or a lifetime of subtle propaganda means you may not be aware of or trust your own values and genuine instincts.
All off a sudden, something significant occurs that validates your feelings prompting an immediate call to action.
Well, at LifeMachine, we sense that a society and economy based upon carbon fuels was an unintentionally significant error of our exploratory past and that harnessing the sun is the ray forward. In fact, just as nature is effectively ‘solar powered’, we should have looked up, not dug down.
Further, we believe that a parallel reduction and eventual elimination of harmful plastics and other potentially toxic materials that are disrupting the nitrogen cycle is equally essential, else life will become increasingly intolerable to many, no matter how aesthetically pleasing or convenient our products.
So, if deep down, hand on heart, you feel the same way, you may appreciate the LifeMachine mission. And it really is to assist individual and group towards a totally sustainable existence.

Sceptical?
Carbon fuels are currently the most cost effective and efficient choice when it comes to keeping the economy running. However, now is the time to make realistic investments in solar energy infrastructure and technology. If you don’t make that investment, someone else will – and they will receive the praise and profit. So why not ensure the sunlight falls on your business and go warm up the diversification engine?
No to green washing
Green washing is when a product or service is marketed in such a way that you are lead to believe it will improve the environment, when in reality, after you examine all the facts, it makes little or no difference, or only exists to defer the problem elsewhere and/or provide an excuse to make a lot of money. As an example, you will not find hybrid vehicles listed within LifeMachine > Directory > Transport. After all, they may be technologically and aesthetically fascinating, but they still rely upon carbon fuels for the majority of their mileage. If we’re to move away from a carbon based economy, we have to go back to the drawing board, let go of previous methods and make some brave decisions. Just because buying something marketed as green makes you feel better doesn’t mean it will make a difference. Read the small print.
Why little mention of wind energy?
Whilst any non polluting energy source is welcome, current wind turbine design leads to several problems, including:
- Noise
- Proven harm to birds
- Moving parts require maintenance
- Interference with radar (A solution to this issue is in the labs.)
