Sahara Solar Energy Project

It is thought that in just five years, solar panels in the Sahara Desert could start providing energy to Europe.  The Transgreen group is giving talks hoping that solar energy from farms planned in the Sahara desert (like the picture above) will generate around 20 gigawatts of electricity by the year 2020, and that a 25% of this could be sent into the European market by using undersea cables.
